In the vibrant decade from 1990 to 1999, the corridors of Mukul Mandir echoed with the rhythmic cadence of a modest musical ensemble. A harmonious symphony unfolded, featuring 4 side drums, 3 base drums, 5 flutes, 2 triangles, 2 big rattles, and 2 trumpets, all expertly guided by the adept hands of 15 spirited students from 4th to 7th class. This initial chapter of musical exploration laid the foundation for what would become a transformative journey, a testament to the 'catch them young' philosophy that sparked a flame within the hearts of the students.
Fast forward to 1999, when High school teacher and music enthusiast Niranjan G. Ghorpade, under the mentorship of Nirmaldada, seized the initiative. The school band, once a modest unit, blossomed into a grand ensemble of 70 students. Marching forward with the Maharashtra Cadet Corps, these young musicians became a visual spectacle, gracing Independence Day and Republic Day parades with precision and flair. Beyond school walls, their resonant melodies and disciplined performances earned invitations to prestigious events, making the Mukul Mandir band a local luminary and a beacon of pride for the entire community. This two-part saga exemplifies the transformative power of mentorship and passion, as Mukul Mandir's humble musical beginnings evolved into a vibrant legacy.
Mukul Mandir's Scout and Guide section, under the visionary leadership of Nirmaldada, has its roots in Pune, where his active involvement in the Scout Maha Jamboree caught the attention of Major R.G. Salvi, the Pune commissioner. Transitioning from traditional education, Nirmaldada, armed with a teacher's diploma from Urili Kanchan, Pune, delved into scouting and teaching, establishing the Bunny and Tum Tola Units at Mukul Balmandir, forming the foundation for the Scout and Guide movement. The Cub Bulbul Unit followed, imparting practical lessons on cleanliness, plant and animal knowledge, and essential skills. The movement expanded, gaining renown for its hands-on approach for classes 6th to 10th, with Nirmaldada leading tree plantation drives, cleanliness movements, and Jamboree participation.
At Mukul Mandir, the weekly Scout and Guide rally and dedicated action work periods foster real-life experiences, engaging students in projects covering life skills, gadget use, and activities like tent-making and rope climbing. Morse Code, compass navigation, bamboo creativity, and campfire traditions are woven into the curriculum, with teachers trained by the District Scout and Guide department ensuring a holistic and experiential learning journey, emphasizing practical skills, responsibility, and camaraderie among students.
Mukul Mandir High School and its dedicated working committee adopt a comprehensive approach to prepare students for the competitive realms of education and careers. Recognizing the importance of a balanced mix of academics and co-curricular activities, the Honorable President of Mukul Har CMD, Mr. Anil Save, proposed the establishment of a National Cadet Corps (NCC) troop in the school. After fulfilling the necessary criteria and submitting the proposal to the District NCC Officer, the first NCC Troop of 7th (G) NCC BN comprising 50 girls was allotted to Mukul Mandir High School on July 30, 2012, marking a proud moment for the school. Since its inception, the NCC girls' troop, under the guidance of trained teacher Mrs. Jyotsna Uttam Jadhav, has actively participated in Independence Day and Republic Day school parades, as well as various NCC camps across Maharashtra, achieving notable success.
The troop's achievements include Cadet Apurva Patil's Gold Medal in Thal Sena Camp, Cadet Sakshi P. Gadkari's Gold Medal in IGC TSC Camp at Pune in 2022, and Cadet Tanushri Padaswan's selection and success in GSC TSC Camp at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in 2022. Currently comprising 50 cadets, the NCC girls' troop at Mukul Mandir High School anticipates further accomplishments in the coming years.
